What is AVIF?
AVIF is a next-generation image format based on the AV1 codec. It offers better compression than JPG and WebP, but is not yet supported by all software.
What if my browser does not support AVIF?
AVIF decoding relies on your browser's native support. Chrome 85+, Firefox 93+, and Safari 16+ all support it. Conversion may fail on older browsers.
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. PNG supports an alpha channel, so transparent areas from the AVIF are kept intact.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed locally in your browser using the Canvas API.
Can I convert multiple files at once?
Yes. Batch conversion of up to about 100 files works reliably.
